Re: how to remove java update via registry key 807578 jul 25, 2007 3:19 pm ( in response to 807578 ) solaris does not use registry keys, it is a unix like system. simply right click on the update icon in the panel and hit remove from desktop and the update tool is disabled.. In the java control panel, changes made to the java update settings are not taking effect. cause the root cause of this problem is the policy registry key. the user with administrative privilege can only change this registry key value. we are aware of this issue and trying to resolve the issue in a future release.. I'm having an issue with editing the registry setting everyone is talking about here. i navigated to hklmsoftwarejavasoftjava updatepolicy and i changed "enablejavaupdate" from 1 to 0..
Go to computer configurationpreferenceswindows settingsregistry, create a new registry item and then specify that you would like to update the registry key enablejavaupdate undersoftwarewow6432nodejavasoftjava updatepolicy to have 00000000 as value. once done, add a wmi filter for 64bit os as part of item-level targeting. On the registry browser, browse to hklmsoftwarewow6432nodejavasoftjava updatepolicy . select the following keys from the registry: -notifydownload -enablejavaupdate -enableautoupdatecheck. click the finish button once all three registry keys have been selected.. In this situation, the java.exe will locate the current java installation by looking at the registry key [hkey_local_machinesoftwarejavasoftjava runtime environmentcurrentversion] and then get the path of the jre from the corresponding key.
